For millions of Americans, 2015 just started with good news

On January 1st, millions of hard-working Americans got a much-deserved raise, when minimum wage increases went into effect in 20 states. And several big cities and the District of Columbia will join them later this year.
This progress is the result of hard-fought battles. Without the dedicated work of grassroots organizers across the country, we wouldn't be celebrating this news today. I want to give a special shout-out to the thousands of OFA supporters who last year helped take up the fight in Nebraska and Albuquerque, N.M., and move the ball forward in Illinois. We won every single fight we got involved in.
We believe that no one who works full time in this country should have to raise their family in poverty. Now, we're seeing real progress toward that goal.
These minimum wage increases come on the heels of more good news for our economy. In December, our economy reached its 57th month of consecutive job growth—the longest streak on record, during which more than 10.9 million private-sector jobs were added.
OFA is going to keep fighting to give more Americans a raise in 2015.
