ALWAYS KABHI KABHI is said to be based on director Roshan Abbas successful play ‘Graffiti’, which he had written and directed way back in 1999.

The story spins around the lives of four high-school adolescents – Sameer aka Sam, Aishwarya aka Aishu/Aish, Taariq aka Einsten, Nandini aka Nandu the Bull, who are in their final year at St. Marks, a school full of good looking, well-dressed romantic students dancing around with funny professors like Ms Das (Lilette Dubey) and Professor Agarwal urf Agro (Vijay Raaz), the girl’s skirts end much above their knees and Romeo and Juliet continues to be the most important chapter in classroom.

Sam, the coolest dude in school, who lives life through shortcuts falls in love with Aish, a new entrant in the school, and as always, you can expect obstacles in their love story. A parallel love story emerges between angry young rebel, Nandu and the cute nerd Einsten. Everyone’s parents are evil.
In short, the story is about how the four brats screw up their lives, and to top it up, the family problems, thus clashing their dreams and aspirations.

The first half of the flick is dull and boring while the second half has a flashy climax. The movie is completely a teeny,youth type film, filled with dreams, friendship, love, crushes, parents pressure, campus life, flirting etc etc. The film does convey a message at the end especially to the parents.

Though the movie is so-so, in fact, it desperately wanted to look youthful, though the dialogues and one-liners did have a youth flavor. The entire star cast did their parts beautifully and can be rated above average. Thankfully, there was no over acting.

Roshan Abbas’ Always Kabhi Kabhi would have worked well if he had released the flick a few years back.

What’s with Aishwarya’s weight gain???

Fans couldn’t believe their eyes when they saw Aishwarya Rai Bachchan at the 162nd edition of the Prix de Diane horse race in Chantilly in France. Ash looked very fat and chubby. The actress was dressed in an elegant peach coloured Eli Saab creation and a typical coquettish hat.
Just a few days back, she looked perfectly fine at the opening ceremony of the Cannes Film Festival, and there was no indication of the added kilos.
Well, the actress has put on so much of weight and she is going to have a tough time shedding those extra kilos for Madhur Bhandarkar’s ‘Heroine’. Aishwarya has not a very considerable amount of time to get back in shape if she is to look convincing as the ‘Heroine’.

Ileana D’cruz to play an old woman in Barfee

South actress Ileana D’Cruz who features in Anurag Basu’s Barfee will be seen aging from a 19-year-old to a 65-year-old in the movie! The 24-year-old D’Cruz is a model-turned actress, who has been part of several South films including the superhit, Pokkiri. Barfee is her first Hindi film.
“All the three lead actors are playing out-of-the-box, and extremely interesting characters in Barfee,” said Anurag Basu, the film’s director,
“Ranbir Kapoor, as everyone knows, is playing a deaf and mute boy, Priyanka Chopra is not mentally-challenged as reported, but is mildly autistic (a form of mental illness that causes a person to withdraw into a private world of fantasy and be unable to communicate with others or respond to his/her real environment) in the film. Ileana D’Cruz, on the other hand, is playing a character who will be seen aging from a 19-year-old to 30 to a 65 year-old,” stated Basu.
The shooting of Barfee took off on June 14 at Darjeeling where Ranbir and Ileana are participating in a 10-day schedule. The hill station is Ranbir’s hometown in the film and will be showcased as never before. After a 15-day gap, the shooting will continue in Mumbai, where Priyanka will start working for her part in August. As for the title Barfee, it was chosen because Ranbir’s name in the film is Murphy, and being mute, he mumbles it as barfee!

Shahrukh Khan’s Knee injury aggravated… Surgery in July…

Shah Rukh Khan injured his knee over a year back. Now, due to continuous shoots and action sequences for his upcoming flick Ra. One, the injury has been aggravated. The actor will undergo a knee surgery in July.
Earlier, SRK was treated by Kolkata Knight Riders physiotherapist Andrew Lepius.
SRK was recently in Hyderabad, shooting.
According to Mumbai based Dr Ali Irani, “Yes he does have a knee problem and he will need to undergo surgery in July. He has been going through a lot of discomfort for sometime. And hence the doctor was called in. He has a tear in the meniscus of his left knee,” informed a source.

Anushka Sharma to join Shahrukh Khan and Katrina Kaif, in Yash’s directorial project…

By now, its very clear that Anushka Sharma shares a wonderful rapport with YRF. The latest we hear is that the actress will be seen sharing screen space with Shahrukh Khan and Katrina Kaif in the much-talked about untitled project.
According to a trusted source, “The script requires a strong actor for the second lead in the film. Yash and Aditya were scouting around and then thought that Anushka seemed to be an obvious choice, for more than one reason.
The role required an actress, who looks younger than Katrina Kaif. And few actresses fit that requirement. Anushka was just the right choice. Plus, Yash Chopra is really fond of her.”
If the buzz is true, then, this would be Anushka’s fifth time working with YRF.

Imran Khan set to file a PIL against new ruling…

The new law raising the alcohol consumption age to 25 in Maharashtra, is not being favored by many Bollywood stars. Actor Imran Khan appears to have taken it upon himself to file a PIL against the new ruling.
Currently, media is abuzz that the ‘Delhi Belly’ protagonist Imran Khan feels that raising of the drinking age to 25 in Maharashtra is absolutely unfair, as when people can vote and marry at 18 and have kids at 21, then why cant they chose to drink or not to drink at an early age.
Imran says he doesn’t endorse nor wish to promote drinking among youth. But what he’s concerned about is the right of freedom to choose for the youngsters who are mature enough to take important decisions like marriage.
Imran’s call to action has his I Hate Luv Storys co-star Sonam Kapoor saying cheers as well.
“If you can vote, get married, have children, drive a car… why on earth can’t you drink? It’s ridiculous we are not living in the dark ages,” said Sonam.
Amitabh Bachchan has tweeted: “On drinking age limit increased to 25 ! Err .. old and mature enough to vote for the country, or join army ..and fight for the nation…but not old and mature enough to be told when you are allowed to drink ???? Strange ?!!!! (sic) .”
Many other Bollywood stars have also spoken against the ruling.

South India charmed by Salman’s presence…

Once you are friends with Salman Khan, he will always be there for you, when you need him. Well, South stunt master FEFSI Vijayan can vouch for that.
Salman Khan especially flew down to Chennai yesterday to attend the music launch of Markandeyan, which stars Sabarish, son of FEFSI Vijayan, in the lead role.
FEFSI Vijayan is the man who has directed the stunts of Salman Khan’s films such as Wanted, Dabangg and the upcoming Bodyguard. Salman shares a very good rapport with him, and when Vijayan invited Salman to grace the music launch of Markandeyan, Salman promptly agreed.
At the music launch, Salman, along with south stars Shriya Saran and actor Vijay lit the ceremonial lamp and launched the music. Despite the presence of a few Tamil film stars, it was Salman Khan who hogged everyone’s attention.

Aishwarya’s ‘Heroine’ look, leaked…

Director Madhur Bhandarkar’s film Heroine, which had Kareena Kapoor as the leading lady initially, now has Aishwarya Rai essaying the lead lady’s role. And if buzz is to be believed, Ash’s has a very very bold role to play.
The above pic is a leaked look of Aishwarya Rai from the film’s set. Despite employing 15 to 17 security guards at the shooting location to keep Ash’s look of a fading superstar a top secret, some crew member clicked Ash’s photos and leaked it out.
According to a source, “Aishwarya’s character in the film has the shades of gray, but from start to end it remains an ultra glamorous character.”
‘Heroine’ has Aishwarya Rai playing a brutally ambitious actress who uses people to achieve fame. Yet, there is a vulnerable side to the character as well. Actor Arunoday Singh plays Aishwarya’s boy toy in the movie.

Reason behind Sanju Baba’s baldness…

Sanjay Dutt has gone bald for his movie Agneepath, an extreme decision he had to take. Dutt didn’t initially want to get his head shaved to play the villain in producer Karan Johar’s remake of the yesteryear hit Agneepath. But blame it on the scorching sun that made it almost impossible for Dutt to shoot with prosthetic make-up.

The temperature in the Diu (that’s where the film is being shot), was a soaring 48 degrees celsius and the prosthetic make-up he had on (which took three hours to apply and would take an hour-and-a-half to remove) began melting away.

To avoid continuity hiccups in his other films, Sanjay Dutt had roped in the Hollywood make-up expert Robin Slater to give him the bald look. But the make-up sessions were long and tiresome. So he took the bold decision and went bald.

As for the continuity of his other films, a wig is being designed in the likeness of Dutt’s original hairdo.

Dutt says, “I couldn’t have handled the make-up mess after a point. It was too tiring. Also, it was a strain on my eyes as prosthetic make-up is heavy.”
